JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

We’re looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join our small team providing support for adults with communication difficulties based in Surrey. The main purpose of the TALK Group Co-ordinator role is to support the efficient operation of our weekly groups.

Job Title Group Co-ordinator

Reporting to Operations Manager

Location Guildford, Woking, Walton-on-Thames and Ashford (otherwise home based)

Hours 21 – 24 hours per week (term-time only)

Salary £20,000 – £23,000 p.a. (pro-rata as appropriate)

Key relationships Operations Manager; Fundraising & Publicity Manager; Group

Leaders and Volunteers.

Contract Permanent, term-time only.

Job opportunity – Advice Session Supervisor

We are seeking someone who is passionate about giving an effective service to those most in need and who is not afraid to drive change and improvement. You will need to demonstrate that you are a strong team player, with a strategic view as well as an eye for detail, and have great people skills. You will thrive in a busy environment and have a positive ‘can do’ attitude. You will be Citizens Advice trained with experience of advice quality assessment, ideally also with Advice Service Supervision experience.

ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR
Specialist local aphasia charity, Dyscover is expanding its administration team and has a new role which may offer future development opportunities.

In this rewarding role you will need to be an experienced administrator and some charity experience would be beneficial but not essential. Our friendly and cheerful environment needs support with day-to-day administration, assisting the Office Manager.

You will work as part of a small, committed team, including Speech and Language Therapists, support staff and volunteers, all of whom are dedicated to delivering a high-quality service to our beneficiaries.

You will be in regular contact with vulnerable, disabled adults and their families and play an important front-of-house role, so empathy, patience and a sense of humour are essential.

Grant Applications Manager, ‘Be Me Project’

About us: We are the UK charity ‘Be Me Project’. We support women and young people to overcome the challenges of low self-esteem and confidence to build resilience and develop the tools to create better emotional wellbeing. We are a growing charity, that is starting to spread through the UK.

Based: Be Me Head Office, Central Dorking, Surrey – can be combined with home working.

Main purpose/objective
● Together with the CEO and Operations and Development Manager (ODM) to be responsible for identifying, managing, administration, and applications of Grants.
● To work closely with the CEO and Chair of Trustees to ensure that the aims, values, and policies of the charity are upheld.
● To work alongside personnel in fundraising with responsibility for our overall fundraising strategy & preparation of project budgets.

Key responsibilities:
● To oversee the administration and application process for Grants.
● Prepare, monitor and update a list of prospective grant funds / charitable trusts, prioritizing funds for application.
● Undertake and keep a log of contact / communications, submissions, outcomes & grant feedback.
● Further establish and build on funder / Be Me relations & attending meetings, networking and training events.

NOTE: This role could be included with the Operation and Development Manager role (See below), adding 1 extra day to the combined roles

Key skills needed:
● Knowledge and experience of the grant application process, information gathering process and proven success in getting the desired returns
● Self-motivated and able to take initiative
● Friendly, approachable manner
● Excellent team player, compassionate and caring
● Good attention to detail, efficient
● Good to excellent IT skills, especially in Google emails, Excel and Word
● Enjoys problem solving and finding solutions
● Previous relevant charity or commercial experience desirable

Reporting to: CEO, ODM and the board of trustees
Salary and hours To be negotiated, dependent on the size of role, experience and availability. This will be a part time position for an initial 6 month period with potential to extend to a permanent contract.

Operation and Development Manager,

● Together with the CEO to be responsible for the management, administration, and operations of the charity, ensuring best practice, within legal and budget constraints.
● To lead and develop short, medium and long term strategy in keeping with the aims, vision and mission of the charity.
● To work closely with the CEO and Chair of Trustees to ensure that the aims, values, and policies of the charity are upheld.
● To work alongside personnel in fundraising to develop a fund-raising strategy.

Key responsibilities:
● To work closely with the CEO to develop and implement short to long term stratigic plans, for business, operations, compliance, performance monitoring, ensuring best practice and in keeping with the charities ethos, values, and policies.
● Responsible for the financial health of the charity including overseeing fundraising and marketing strategy and accounting/bookkeeping. To prepare and maintain budgets.
● To report regularly to the Trustees, along with the CEO, and enable them to have all the information needed to make informed decisions.
● Oversee the staff and volunteers, including recruiting, checking and training/developing. Communicate changes to operation procedures.
● Maintain all that is needed for smooth running of the courses, liaising with hub leaders and oversee activities.
