Central Surrey Voluntary Action (CSVA) offers DBS checks for volunteers and employees working with Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector organisations in Surrey.  Please email, admin@csva.co.uk and our DBS team will get in touch with you to make necessary arrangements. Our offices are based in Epsom, Dorking and Walton-on-Thames, our team is only able to see DBS applicants by appointment only.

In accordance with DBS rules, individuals cannot request Standard, Enhanced and Enhanced with barring list checks. If an organisation requires a DBS check for your volunteering or employment, please ask your employer to get in touch with us by emailing; admin@csva.co.uk or call 01372 722 911.

Types of DBS checks and costs

Standard DBS checks –  For Staff £40.00/ Volunteers £15.00

A standard check shows spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings which are not subject to filtering.

Enhanced DBS Check –  For Staff £62/ Volunteers £17.00/ Volunteers– Enhanced Adult First Check     £19.00

The enhanced check is available for specific duties, positions and licences included in both the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975) and the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) regulations, for example, regularly caring for, training, supervising or being solely in charge of children, specified activities with adults in receipt of health care or social care services and applicants for gaming and lottery licences.

An enhanced check shows the same as a standard check plus any information held by local police that is considered reasonably relevant, and ought to be disclosed, relating to the child or adult workforces. Where the application is for any other role, the police will consider the nature of the role in the release of information

Enhanced DBS Check with Barring List  –  For Staff £62.00 / Volunteers £17.00/ Volunteers – Enhanced Adult First Check  £19.00

The Enhanced Check with Barring list check (s) is only available for those individuals who carry out regulated activity. An Enhanced level Certificate with barred list checks contained the same PNC and local police as a standard level check but it will also include checks against the children’s and/or adult barring list.
