Our Music, Art and Craft and sessions are very varied, and help is needed between 2 - 4pm in the afternoon. They are held in a friendly and informal environment and supported by a volunteer. The volunteer with the help of the of the Manager creates interesting and exciting projects for the students to do. Activities could include learning about artist, accompanying music with percussion instruments and producing artwork in their style, creating themed decorations for occasions, such as Halloween, Easter, Christmas etc., and general craft work using unusual materials.
The sessions are aimed at enabling the students to express themselves and discover their hidden talents whilst having fun! We are looking for someone to provide an extra pair of hands, mainly on a one-to-one basis, whilst in a group environment and as part of a team effort. Obviously as there is usually paint and glue involved ‘getting a bit messy’ is inevitable! Each student has different needs, including two who are partially sighted and one who is blind, some just want reassurance and encouragement.
Whilst no qualifications are required, an interest in music or the Arts or Craft activity would be preferable.
The ability to engage with people who have a variety of disabilities is vital.
Enthusiasm, patience and a sense of humor are also very important.
Teaching experience desirable but not essential.
Monday to Friday 2 pm to 4.00 pm Monday & Friday Music, Tuesday and Thursday Art and Wednesday Craft. The sessions are not related so a volunteer can do one session only if they choose. We operate a three term system generally based on the Surrey County Council academic year.
