By volunteering with us, you can help girls build their confidence, have adventures, learn new skills and have loads of fun - no matter your experience, your background or how much time you have spare. During Covid Girlguiding has moved the adventure online - this hasn't stopped us from cooking, campaigning, crafting and even camping. We are looking for women to lead and assist with these virtual meetings, and then to carry on the fun once we can again meet face-to-face. Over the summer groups will be offering face-to-face (outdoor) meetings or continuing virtual meetings depending on circumstances.
Volunteering with Girlguiding means getting messy, meeting new people and running activities that help girls discover their potential and build their confidence. It's about empowering girls and giving them new experiences. It's being a role model and sharing and developing your skills.
As part of a leader team you will have plenty of fun while giving essential support to your unit leader. You'll help to plan and deliver meetings, events and activities.
Leaders are women between the ages of 18-64 who assist in running Rainbows (aged 5-7), Brownies (aged 7-10), Guides (aged 10-14) or Rangers (14-18). Each leader usually helps with one age group only.
There are learning and development opportunities both during meetings and through training sessions. Volunteers are supported by a Mentor while working towards their leadership qualification.
Times are flexible to suit the availability of the volunteer. Unit meetings run for about an hour online in the evenings between 4 - 9pm, depending on the age of the girls. You may also be asked to help at special events and attended training in addition to regular sessions.
