Activities volunteer for over 60s at our Social Centre in Leatherhead for pleasure, leisure and learning. Weekly, fortnightly or occasional volunteering.
Sessions are 10.30am - Midday
Do you have any particular skills or interests you would like to share with older people?
We are looking for Volunteers to encourage our members who have been unable to come into the Fairfield Centre for the last 16 months to come out and take part in some interactive games, crafts or hobbies.
It may be you like playing board games, doing puzzles, doing craft. The choice can be yours.
As our members are older they sometimes find things that require fine motor skills challenging but will give things a go.
Our aim at the Centre is to give older people as many opportunities to take part in things they enjoyed doing in the past or learning new activities.
The longer I work here the more I realise 90 is the new 60, so you may be surprised by the skills and knowledge our members have and want to continue to use.
The people who come into the Centre tend to be over 75 years old and appreciate the opportunity to make new friends and chat in a sociable environment. So we are looking for volunteers who can encourage people to try new things in a fun way whilst interacting with others.
You must be patient and willing to repeat things and assist where needed but not take over.
A good sense of humour is important and a willingness to be led by the interests and abilities of the people attending would be a great benefit.
