In response to the Coronavirus outbreak, The Brigitte Trust is expanding its telephone support. We are offering emotional support to any adult in Surrey who is vulnerable, lonely, isolated, bereaved or a carer needing a friendly voice at the end of the telephone line.
As lockdown eases there is still so much need. People remain anxious and many are shielding with medical issues. We need more help.
How you will join us. Our monthly online training courses enable new volunteers to swiftly join our emotional support service. Suitable volunteers will need to fill in an application form, join two training sessions on Zoom, and have a full DBS check. Ongoing support will be available to you from our experienced team.
We’re looking for volunteers who are empathetic, kind, caring, supportive and good listeners, with time to spare for people truly in need of a friendly voice.
Could that be you?
Calls once a each week to the same person for up to an hour per call depending on the client’s need. Training courses run most months and take place via Zoom for two sessions each lasting around two hours. You will need to complete both sessions before starting the role. Next training course - May 5th and 6th at 10am
