If you like the idea of engaging with customers whilst keeping the shop floor looking lovely and the sales flowing through the till then this opportunity is for you! This is an opportunity to volunteer in an Oxfam shop at the heart of your community.
Oxfam is a global movement of millions of people who share the belief that, in a world rich in resources, poverty isn't inevitable. We respond fast in emergencies, work on long-term projects with communities and campaign for genuine, lasting change. Our volunteers, staff and those we aim to influence are all guided by our values of empowerment, accountability and inclusiveness.
With a network of over 600 shops, our diverse volunteers play an integral role in championing Oxfam’s value, running the shops and promoting our life saving work to the wider community. Through the sales of donated goods and our ethical range of new products, Sourced by Oxfam, our shops raise millions of pounds each year to fund our crucial work to end the injustice of poverty.
We offer personal development, valuable insight into charity retail and a friendly environment to meet new people.
Your gift of time can be planned to suit you and the needs of the shop. You don't need to give a lot of time to make a massive difference to the success of our shops!
Full covid preventative measures are in place within the shop, mask-wearing and social distancing. Lateral flow tests are available for volunteers.
What are your key responsibilities?
Full training is provided and it’s a great way to develop skills in communication, decision-making, teamwork and, of course, retail. (If you already have these skills then we would love to hear from you too!)
You do not need specific skills and experience but the following would be useful:
We can always make use of volunteers and their gift of time but at the moment we are particularly in need of a great individual for Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons. We need volunteers on an ongoing basis. However, we would be happy to discuss short-term volunteering opportunities.
