We can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating and it can be difficult and stressful trying to work things out alone sometimes. Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds and find volunteering rewarding, challenging and fun. We need more Advisers in Caterham & Warlingham Citizens Advice to help us continue to provide our service to your community.
You will talk to clients, explore their problems and help them to understand options and help them to take actions. This could include drafting or writing letters, making phone calls, or referring the client to another organisation. You will then summarise the discussion in writing.
Ideally, we ask volunteers for a minimum commitment of 6 hours per week, which can be over one day or spread over two days, for at least 12 months following training. We can be flexible so come and talk to us.
You can make a valuable contribution and a positive impact on the lives of people in Caterham. Learn about a range of issues that affect our clients including benefits and debt. Build on valuable skills such as communication and problem solving.
You don’t need specific qualifications or skills but you’ll need to be able to communicate with clients in a friendly and approachable way that is non-judgmental.
You will need to be able to understand and record information on our systems.
