Ashtead Cricket Club is more than just a sports club—we are a massive community hub with 500+ juniors, a trailblazing Women and Girls’ section, and Premier League senior teams. We are diverse, progressive, and right at the heart of local life. To keep this engine running, we need a Strategic Treasurer to join our leadership team!
What you’ll be doing:
Forget the "nitty-gritty" of every single receipt; that’s for our Bookkeeper. As Treasurer, you are the Financial Director.
You will:
· Set the Strategy: Manage our £300k budget to fund everything from new practice nets to our 2026/27 expansion plans.
· Be the Voice of Reason: Join our quarterly committee meetings to guide big-picture decisions that keep us thriving.
· Keep us Compliant: Oversee dedicated payroll and pension software to ensure we’re hitting all our professional marks.
· Collaborate: Work closely with our Bookkeeper and Management Committee to ensure our financial health remains "Premier League" standard.
Join our Volunteer Community:
While the role offers the flexibility to work remotely, its real value is the people. You’ll be joining a group of over 50 enthusiastic and supportive volunteers who are passionate about the club's success.
It is a fantastic way to make new friends, expand your local network, and feel the buzz of being part of a team that genuinely makes a difference to hundreds of families in Ashtead.
No formal accounting degree is needed—just a commercial mindset and a desire to work alongside a great team.
Ready to lead? We’d love to have you on board!
We are looking for a business-minded team player who wants to help our diverse community club thrive.
You do not need formal financial qualifications.
What we’re looking for:
· Commercial Common Sense: If you’ve managed a budget at work, run your own business, or just have a good head for commercial decisions, you’ll be a perfect fit. You understand the "big picture" of how a healthy balance sheet translates into better facilities and more opportunities for everyone.
· A Clear Communicator: You’re the person who can look at the numbers and tell the committee in plain English: "Here is where we are, and here is how we can support our next big project."
· A Dependable Partner: You’ll be working closely with our volunteer Bookkeeper and a committee that values transparency. We need someone we can rely on to keep a steady eye on the horizon.
· A Passion for Community: You don’t need to be a cricket expert! You just need to be someone who values diversity and wants to be part of a club that makes a tangible difference to its community —from our 500+ juniors and 160+ women and girls to the local schools and community groups that call our pavilions home.
Why You’ll Love It
You won't be working in a vacuum. You’ll be joining an enthusiastic and passionate team of volunteers from all walks of life. We take pride in being a progressive, inclusive club where every voice is heard and every contribution is celebrated.
If you’re a reliable, "can-do" person who wants to help a thriving community club stay progressive and diverse, we’d love to have a chat!

A "Little and Often": On average, the role takes just 1–2 hours a week. Some weeks there’s very little to do; others—like when we’re setting the annual budget—might need a touch more of your expertise. · Total Flexibility: There’s no "9 to 5" here. You have the complete freedom to fit your tasks around your work and family life. · Work from Anywhere: Most of the role is fully remote, so you can perform your role from the comfort of home. · A Chance to Connect: While the work is flexible and remote, the heart of the role is people! Aside from our four quarterly committee meetings (which you can join in person at Woodfield Lane or via video link, you’ll have plenty of chances to pop down to the club, soak up the atmosphere, and chat with our enthusiastic and passionate volunteers. In short: It’s a high-impact, low-maintenance role that lets you give back to a vibrant community without sacrificing your own schedule.
