Do you want to make a difference to NHS and social care services in Surrey, and help amplify the voices of local people?
Healthwatch Surrey is an independent organisation with statutory powers that gives a voice to local people to shape and improve NHS and social care services. We work collaboratively as a critical friend, to help commissioners and providers listen to local views, and to help the public in Surrey share their experiences. We couldn’t do this without the help and support of our dedicated volunteers.
There are lots of different ways in which our volunteers help and support the work we do.
Our volunteers can:
Volunteering with us is flexible:
You can choose to do a bit of everything, or just focus on the activities that interest you the most. We will work with you to match opportunities to your skills and interest.
You will be volunteering out in the community in your local area; in hospitals, care homes, surgeries, public areas and the high street. You may also attend meetings and complete work from home.
You can commit as much or as little of your time as you wish. You can volunteer with us for a fixed period, or for much longer. It’s up to you!
We reimburse volunteers for genuine out-of-pocket expenses. This includes travel expenses.
We will provide you with training to help you carry out your role. Depending on your volunteering interests this could include training in safeguarding vulnerable adults, suicide prevention, and Enter and View training. You may be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check (formerly referred to as a Criminal Records Bureau check) to complete your volunteer role.
