Mobility Assistants are needed for any hours / days Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm. The Mobility Assistant is needed to: a) meet and assist users on their arrival at the Shopmobility premises b) escort visually impaired people on shopping trips, and c) carry out various checking, administrative and recording duties related to the loan of mobility equipment
No special qualifications are required, but Mobility Assistants should be practical, with common sense and good communication skills. They should enjoy working with people, and possess empathy and consideration. They should have numeracy and clerical skills, and ideally a knowledge of computers. Experience of working in an office environment or with disabled people would be useful, but not essential. As the work is quite physical, good health and mobility are needed.
