The primary role of Volunteers working in the Family Support Service will be to support the young people we work with in a variety of ways.  Your primary role will be to provide advice, mentor, guidance and support to our young people helping them develop effective life strategies based on his or her unique development needs. You will support the work that a Family Support Officer is doing with young people around befriending, independent travel and living skills; ready for work projects, drop in centre work and much more.  You will provide encouragement and support by building trust and modelling positive behaviours, being dependable, engaged, authentic and tuned into the needs of the young people we work with.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for people who are friendly and approachable, have good listening and communication skills, are open minded and non judgemental and enjoy working with young people.  You will also need to be enthusiastic, reliable and committed to our work.  Previous experience of working with young people would be preferred  but not essential as full training will be given.
