Growing Redhill is a community gardening group for Redhill and the surrounding area, which is run by a volunteer Committee of Management. Its volunteer officer roles consist of, as a minimum, a chairperson, secretary and treasurer. All committee members must be paid up members of Growing Redhill, which costs £5 per year and be elected annually at the AGM.
The secretary is responsible for maintaining a register of officers and members. They keep members informed and maintain records such as insurance documents and risk assessments. They administer the formal station partnership with Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), which is renewed annually. The secretary prepares agendas for group meetings and takes minutes. This is not an onerous task, with the group holding at least three committee meetings each year and an AGM with an ordinary meeting for members and stakeholders.
There is the option to lead on organising group events and publicity, develop policies and website updating although this is not essential.
The start date for this role is the beginning of September.
Ability to maintain an accurate record of the group's membership and core business, requiring attention to detail.
Good at planning and meeting deadlines.
Confident in completing complex paperwork, such as the annual review of our station partnership.
Good Microsoft Office skills in order to put together simple spreadsheets, written documents and presentations.
Good interpersonal skills to deal with enquiries and work with other volunteers in a small and close-knit team of volunteer officers.
An interest in community gardening is desirable.
The group is small and therefore the work is occasional and can be fitted around your own timetable
