Singing for Health volunteer for over 60s at our Social Centre in Leatherhead for pleasure, leisure and learning.

We hold a Singing for Health session every Friday from 2pm until 3.30pm led by our fun singing teacher Barbara Christopher.

At 2pm we serve tea and cake to 20 – 40 people and we need someone who would be willing to do this and help clear everything and wash up using a dishwasher.

Joining with the group to sing is very uplifting and great fun. We serve squash at 3pm to help quench the thirst of the singers.

Our aim at the Centre is to give older people as many opportunities to take part in things they enjoyed doing in the past or learn new things

The longer I work here the more I realise 90 is the new 60, so you may be surprised by the skills and knowledge they have and want to continue to use.

Watching everyone leaving the session with big smiles on their faces makes my day.

What skills do I need?

The people who come into the Centre tend to be over 75 years old and appreciate the opportunity to make new friends and chat in a sociable environment. So we are looking for a volunteer who can encourage people to join in the singing whilst interacting with others.

A good sense of humour is important and a willingness to help out as needed.
