Our daytime Drop-In is open to any adult. It particularly attracts lonely, homeless or unemployed people struggling with a range of issues. They all need a friendly face and a listening ear. It provides them with a non-judgmental environment and a community in which they can be themselves.
During the week our Drop-In opens 11am to 3pm.
The shift starts at 11.45am and has a team of three people: A Drop-In Leader, Kitchen Supervisor, Kitchen Assistant and Drop-In Assistant. The Drop-In Assistant helps the Drop-In Leader serve drinks and snacks, chatting with the guests and joining in with activities or games.
We are taking a cautious approach to the national relaxation of Covid restrictions. From July 19th, masks will not be mandatory in the Chapel, however social distancing, limits on numbers and good hygiene remain. We are also encouraging volunteers to take regular tests and there is an expectation you will have also had the vaccine. If you have any concerns, please ask us when you express an interest. All contact details are taken for everyone for Track and Trace.
If you have any concerns, please ask us when you express an interest. We will keep the arrangements under close review and update our volunteers if practices have to change.
Important to all our volunteer roles is the ability to make our guests feel welcome by chatting and listening. An acceptance of people from all walks of life and circumstances is vital.
No formal catering experience is needed.
Shifts times are 10.45am and 3.30pm.
