The Talking Newspaper makes weekly digital recordings of volunteers reading the Dorking Advertiser for visually impaired listeners.

The Technical Adviser (TA) is the first point of contact for all technical matters. All the equipment, both audio and IT, is the responsibility of the TA, who advises on purchase of new equipment, and arranges appropriate training/mentoring for volunteers concerned.

The role needs someone with audio as well as IT expertise, who would be willing to join in and provide active support for our non-expert volunteers.

What skills do I need?

Experience of setting up, operating and maintaining audio equipment and related IT.

Ability to teach and mentor volunteers in its use.

Ability to troubleshoot equipment when problems (technical or operational) occur.  Willingness to join recording team on a regular (rota) basis.
