Volunteers needed for new service called Call Companions which is a national service where it doesn't matter where you live, you can be matched with someone anywhere in the country who has the same interests. This scheme is open to people over the age of 50 - due to the fact many people shielding from Covid were younger than normal age limit.
The scheme is flexible in that you can volunteer to do hours that suit you including evenings so can be fitted around work.
Good communication and listening skills, you should enjoy the company of older people and be friendly and outgoing, having awareness of people's situation during this virus and showing empathy with loneliness. You may be the only person the client speaks to all week!
