To support Crossroads Care Surrey in responding to Covid-19 by providing telephone or virtual call befriending support to Carers who are isolated at home and providing full time care for a person that is sick, disabled, infirm or living with End of Life conditions. We would like to give support, conversation and companionship to Carers that are committed to providing care for a family member and with little opportunity for a break.
We would like to give befriending support to Carers, enabling them to benefit from friendly support and someone to just check in on their well-being. Calls could last anything from 10 minutes to half and hour and you will ensure you can listen with understanding and patience and then respond appropriately.
• Access to a laptop or PC and willingness to connect to cloud-based telephone app and rostering system • DBS General caring skills which will include: • Patience • Sense of humour • Listening skills • Adaptability • Discretion • Honesty and reliability • Confidentiality
We ask for commitment of anything from 1-5 days per week, depending on what suits you. We can work around times that you are available so mornings or afternoons only will be fine. We ask only that you commit to supporting 2-4 clients/people with care needs each week with regular befriending calls. Please call us to discuss what you are able to commit to.
