• Know that you are making a valuable contribution in supporting Carers in your local area. • Acquire new skills and confidence. • Make new friends.
The role will help Crossroads Care Surrey in responding to Covid-19 by supporting the delivery of essential shopping for vulnerable people and carers that are isolated or shielding at home. With access to your own vehicle you will respond to requests made by the Community Support Co-ordinator to complete a shopping trip for a vulnerable client. We will support clients to make online shopping orders which you would be responsible for collecting from the relevant shop and delivering to the client.
Support trips could take anything between 1 to 2 hours. You are not asked to respond to every request that we make, however we ask that you be willing to receive calls any day of the week (Mon-Fri) between 9-5.30pm to check your availability for providing support to a family. Where we can, we will roster regular session on the same days each week however we cannot guarantee this therefore your willingness to be flexible would be a great advantage.
If you are interested in taking this role on alongside another volunteer role, such as Companion or Befriender, we would be more than happy to consider you for those you are interested in.
• Access to a laptop or PC and willingness to connect to cloud-based telephone and rostering systems would be an advantage, but not essential.
General caring skills which will include: • Patience • Sense of humour • Listening skills • Adaptability • Discretion • Honesty and reliability • Confidentiality
We would ask you to commit to engaging in a minimum of 1-3 trips per week.
