The volunteer worker will be part of a team providing a Community Club for young people aged 11-14 years who live locally. As a team member the volunteer worker will help to create a fun, safe environment with constructive things to do, offering practical, emotional and educational support. The team are lead and supported by Surrey Clubs for young people.
With the aim of improving their self-esteem, helping with relational and self-management skills, grow in their leadership skills, teaching them to take personal ownership of their environment, the place where they live, their future and their interactions with others.
The club is open one evening per week term time (Mondays) for 2.5 hours. The Club runs from 6-7.30 pm plus set up time/down time and debrief of 30 minutes at the start and end of a session.
Further opportunities are available to help at holiday club events such as Community Fairs and outings at the end of each term.
There will be 3 x team planning and evaluation meetings during the course of the year. Times will be mutually arranged within the team and volunteers will be expected to attend.
The ongoing development and training of our volunteers is important to us and vital to the running of the club. Volunteers will be encouraged to attend and any charges for training will be paid for by the Community Hub.
Volunteers are required to complete yearly safeguarding training which will either be online or at the Hub.
To create a welcoming inclusive culture where respect for each other and care for others is key.
To develop relationships and community among the young people aged 11 upwards and families on the Forest Estate and wider Englefield Green through running a weekly term time club.
Although no previous experience is required for this role we welcome those who have previously worked in a youth centered environment.
