Are you thinking of pursuing a career in healthcare and want to gain experience in the field?
We’re offering sixth form/college students (aged 17-19) the opportunity to join Princess Alice Hospice as a Ward Support Volunteer.
In exchange for a few hours every week, we can help support your career ambitions by providing you with meaningful and valuable experience working directly with patients on our In-Patient Unit.
The role is primarily designed to support our Nurses and Healthcare Assistants with a variety of tasks and activities on the ward.
These range from restocking and tidying patient rooms and answering call bells, to interacting with patients, their families, and friends.
Over the course of this 6 month programme, you will interact with patients and staff on a weekly basis gaining invaluable insights into compassionate healthcare and expanding your skill set, knowledge, and confidence.
You’ll also meet other Ward Support Volunteers with similar interests to you. At the end of the programme, we recognise and celebrate your volunteering journey with a certificate of your achievement.
You must be 17 years old by 17 March 2024 and you must be able to commit to volunteering one day every week, from 17 March 2024 for six months with minimal absence.
The training day will be Saturday 9 March 2024
Closing date for applications is 10 December 2023.
